Our concept

The Schmetterling company kindergarten follows the Lower Austrian educational plan and integrates tried and tested elements from various educational approaches such as Emmi Pikler, Montessori education, sensory integration, Emilia Reggio, psychomotor skills, elementary music education, art education, media education, social education, Marte Meo and linguistics.

We attach great importance to an appreciative attitude that allows each child to find their own rhythm and access to materials and people. Our educational programmes aim to promote the emotional, social, physical and cognitive development of the children in a holistic way

We see ourselves as companions through the first years of a child’s life and maintain a close partnership with the parents, whereby a regular exchange of information is of great importance. However, we understand that we cannot and do not want to replace the parental home, but merely provide additional support.

Our educational staff adapt the educational focus, content and goals according to the children’s stage of development. Through regular reflection and further training, we are always up to date and can integrate the latest findings and educational trends into our work. The quality of our educational work is continuously ensured through reviews and inspections.

What particularly characterises the Schmetterling company kindergarten:

  • Independence education: We promote the independence of the children and support them in organising and controlling themselves.
  • Individuality: Each child is supported individually according to their level of development; there is no rigid collective.
  • High supervision ratio: We have qualified pedagogical staff who look after the children exclusively.
  • Creativity: Our educational team stimulates the children’s imagination and creativity through a variety of materials and activities.
  • Environmental awareness: We emphasise sustainability and promote environmentally conscious thinking and actions from the very beginning.
  • Bilingualism: Our bilingual concept offers the children the opportunity to learn English as well as German.
  • Healthy nutrition: We offer fresh, home-cooked food made from organic and regional ingredients.
  • Modern facilities and the highest standards: Our premises and equipment meet the highest standards and offer the children an optimal environment.
  • Few closing days: Kindergarten Schmetterling NÖ has only a few closing days per year.
  • Safety: We attach great importance to safety and all our employees are first aiders

Our philosophy

“Children should play more than many children do these days. Because if you play enough when you are little, you carry treasures with you that you can draw on later in life.” (Astrid Lindgren)

“Our inner attitude determines our actions.” (Axel Conrad, reprint 2021, Cornelsen Verlag)

We want to offer the children a safe and supportive space in which they can develop. Building trust and a bond with each child is a central aspect of our educational work.

Our programme as a bilingual kindergarten

The advantages of learning a second or even a third language have been intensively researched and discussed by academics and researchers. In our bilingual kindergartens in Vienna, we offer personal consultations to clarify individual questions or concerns.

Studies show that bilinguals have a different thought process. They develop a less standardised way of thinking, which makes them more creative, flexible and open. The possibility of having two or more concepts for the same object encourages the development of a more original and flexible thought system. This diversity of concepts allows a broader access to associated meanings.

  • Small group activities in English, including creative activities, picture book activities, educational games, finger plays and flashcards.
  • English supplements to the educational programme, covering all areas of education.
  • Teachers encourage the children’s active participation by repeating parts of the lessons in English.
  • Our bilingual kindergarten brings together children of different nationalities and languages, resulting in a diverse and enriching environment.
